Is VidRefine free?

Yes. All current video scanning, enhancement, upscaling and compression tools are free to use. No account or payment is required.

Does VidRefine upload my video?

No. The selected file is read by browser media APIs on your device. Models may be downloaded when needed, but the video itself is not sent to VidRefine.

How do I know whether AI is running?

The tool checks WebGPU and model availability before processing and displays either “On-device AI” or “Local media processing.” A fallback is never labelled as AI.

What does the quality scan measure?

It reports metadata the browser can actually read: resolution, duration, frame rate, bitrate, codec, audio tracks, aspect ratio and decode support. It does not invent blur or noise scores.

Can VidRefine guarantee a target file size?

VidRefine measures the encoded file. If the first result is over target, it adjusts the bitrate and retries once. Success is shown only after the output has been measured.

Why might the output format change?

Codec support differs by browser and operating system. VidRefine prefers H.264/AAC MP4 and uses VP9/Opus WebM when MP4 encoding is unavailable.
